Croatia and Greece have signed up to be part of the 2022 European Cricket League.
The two countries' champions in 2021 will join the winners of T20 competitions across the European continent in the tournament which takes place in La Manga, Spain. The brainchild of organiser Daniel Weston, the competition has been billed as the 'Champions League' of European cricket.
So far countries which are involved include Belgium, Denmark, England & Wales, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands, Norway, Romania, Russia, Scotland, Spain and Sweden.
The inaugural tournament took place in 2019, but this year's competition was postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic, a real blow as teams from Ireland and Scotland were due to give the event a real boost.
The 2019 tournament was won by VOC Rotterdam who proved unstoppable with international players Pieter Seelaar, Max O'Dowd and Scott Edwards in their ranks.
Edwards slammed an incredible 137* from just 37 balls in the final, while O'Dowd collected the Player of the Tournament accolade.
However, the real story of the competition was the emergence of Romanian Cluj Cricket Club's Pavel Florin, whose unique action went viral, and ended up with him getting the opportunity to play in Australia.
The 2021 event is now scheduled to be held between May 30th to June 6th in an eight-day event.
